Project topics

Needs review

Needs review: Check where learners see the task text: the reference front renders the project's stored value (the admin stores the placeholder 'theProject' when empty) and not the topic description.

A Project topic is an assignment: learners upload a file with their solution, and tutors review the submissions.

  1. In the program, add a topic and choose Project.
  2. Describe the task in the topic’s Description (Open editor): what to do, what to hand in, in which format.
  3. In Users to notify, pick the people who should get a notification when someone uploads a solution, usually the course tutors.
  4. Save the topic.

Open the course editor’s User projects tab (/courses/list/<id>/user_projects). The table lists every uploaded file with the topic, the learner and the upload date, with Download and Delete.

Learners can upload a file of any type, and can see and delete their own submissions. The upload form exists in the legacy learner app; the reference front does not offer the upload yet.

The API also stores a grade and written feedback per submission (/api/admin/topic-project-solutions), but the admin panel does not show these fields yet.

A project topic is not completed automatically when a file is uploaded. In the reference front the learner presses Mark as complete.
