Rich text topics

A rich text topic (RichText) holds one Markdown document. Use it for reading material, explanations and instructions.

  1. In the program, add a topic and choose RichText.
  2. Write in the editor. It is a WYSIWYG editor that stores plain Markdown, and Markdown shortcuts work as you type (# for a heading, - for a list, > for a quote).
  3. Type / on an empty line for the block menu:
    • Upload image, audio, video, PDF: uploads the file to the course’s folder and inserts it.
    • Link note: a link (shortcut [[).
    • Checkbox list, bulleted list, ordered list, table, quote, code block.
    • Math: a LaTeX formula.
    • Big, medium and small headings.
  4. Save the topic.

The same editor is used for course summaries and descriptions and for a topic’s introduction, description and summary.

The reference front renders the Markdown as formatted text. If the text starts with a heading equal to the topic title, that heading is dropped so the title is not shown twice.

In the reference front, a rich text topic completes when the learner scrolls to the end of the text (after a few seconds on the page), or with Mark as complete. See the learner guide.
